Guitarduo 22Strings
The Guitarduo 22Strings was founded in 2005 by guitarists Carsten Linck, Germany and Carsten Grøndahl, Denmark. Since their musical studies both musicians have shared a love of the 11 string altoguitar of Georg Bolin. The extended tonal range of this rich sounding instrument (range: Bb-C-D-Eb-F-G-c-f-bb-d’-g’) allows on the one hand faithful reproduction of origin lute music from the Renaissance and Baroque period and on the other hand also the playing of new contemporary transcriptions from the cembalo- and piano literature without significant compromises.

Carsten Grøndahl was born in Aalborg Denmark in 1961. He was educated at the Academies of Music in Aalborg, Malmoe and Copenhagen. He has released six solo-CDs which have been given very good reviews. He has attended masterclasses with John Williams, Manuel Barrueco, David Russel and Roberto Aussel. Apart from six-stringed classical guitar he also plays an eleven-stringed altoguitar.

Carsten Grøndahl is today one of the most demanded concert guitarist in Scandinavia. He gives many concerts all over the world, recitals as well as soloist with symfoni orchestras. Recently he played with Belgrade Symfoni Orchestra.
And recently he made a tour in Japan with three soloconcerts and one concert as soloist with orchestra.

Carsten Grøndahl is performing in duo and trio chamber music with soprano, flute and violin. He enjoys teaching and every year he is engaged in several masterclases. Carsten Grøndahl is member of jury in international guitar competitions. He is Artistic Director of Malmoe International Guitar Festival.
